Severed Hand Controller
The Severed Hand Controller is a concept design for a horror game called 'Kurai' created by me.
This is the mood board for Kurai. Based on the mood board, the controller must give a discomforting and terrifying feel for the user to add to the immersion to the horror game.
The controller is designed to be a styrofoam hand filled with fake blood. It has several lacerations and the buttons are stuck to the hand 'painfully'. The buttons can either be magnets or very thick galvanised nails.
When holding the controller, you are supposed to feel uneasy. The uneven, unsymmetrical controller makes it hard to hold the controller properly. This makes the user uncomfortable and more vulnerable to the game's atmosphere.
